James Dewey Harris, 47, of Monteagle was arrested on Jan. 29 and charged with DUI first offense, manufacture deliver, sell or possess, simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. A deputy, while on routine patrol saw, a vehicle parked in a parking lot at the corner of McMinnville Highway and Blue Springs Road with the driver slumped over the steering wheel and the engine running. The deputy knocked on the window until Harris responded. The deputy noticed Harris had apparently urinated in his pants while he was passed out. Harris was told to get out of the vehicle so the deputy could check his ability to drive. He was swaying and using his arms for balance. He was unable to perform three field sobriety tasks. During the inventory of the vehicle, prior to having the vehicle towed, a yellow pill bar was found. Harris was unable to provide a prescription. In two separate bags, a crystal like substance was found believed to be methamphetamine. The total weight of both bags was 12.5 grams. The deputy also found a syringe in Harris’ front shirt pocket. Bond was set at $37,500.

Eric Dean Morgan, 31, of Smithville was arrested on Jan.26 and charged with violation of an order of protection. A sheriff’s department deputy responded to the hospital ER on Jan. 26, after another deputy witnessed Morgan and the petitioner of an order of protection outside talking. Morgan told the deputy he had picked up the petitioner in Cookeville the day before and they had been hanging out. With the order of protection still being active, Morgan was in violation. Bond was set at $3,500.

Rachel Danielle Overman, 28, was arrested on Jan. 26 for sale and delivery IV drug, alprazolam. Two sheriff department detectives initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevy Malibu for crossing the yellow line and turning lane. Overman was the front seat passenger. The driver gave the okay to search the vehicle where detectives found a rolled up paper towel by Overman’s leg which contained a clear pipe with residue. A plastic baggie was also found in the vehicle containing 20 alprazolam pills. On the passenger seat between the seat and the door, a bottle was found which contained 45 alprazolam pills. There were no prescriptions for the pills, and they were packaged in two separate containers believed to be packaged for sale and delivery. Overman claimed possession of all illegal drugs. She was also written a citation for drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $5,000.

Courtney Marie Watson, 22, of Alexandria was arrested Jan. 31 for introduction of contraband in a penal institution. Another agency brought Watson into the jail and told a correctional officer that Watson had retrieved a baggy from her shirt and shoved it up her vaginal cavity. Upon a search, two female correctional officers retrieved a baggie of marijuana from her vaginal cavity. The baggie weighed approximately 4 grams. Bond was set at $5,000.
