A Hartsville man had a bad day on DeKalb County roads last week after his vehicle skidded off a notoriously curvy road and crashed into a telephone pole.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, on Thursday, November 10, 69-year-old Larry Gregory Sr. of Hartsville, was traveling east on Bright Hill Road in a 1990 Geo Metro. The man reported that he looked down for a second then lost control of his vehicle. The car ran off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole head on.

THP Trooper Chris Delong, Deputies with the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department, DeKalb EMS, and the DeKalb Fire Department responded to the scene.

Gregory had reportedly not been wearing a seatbelt and suffered a broken leg, and lacerations to the head and face. He was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center by a Lifeflight air ambulance with serious injuries.
