A man for a need for speed will have to slow it down for a while as he has been saddled with two years’ probation for his high velocity run from the law.

The lead-footed motorist, Joshua Andrew Hudson, 25, of Sparta entered a guilty plea this past week to the charge of evading arrest. He was placed on probation for two years for the crime.

Hudson’s sentence comes after a DeKalb County deputy tried to pull him over near the county line. While acting like he was going to pull over into a parking lot just as he crossed into White County, Hudson had a change of heart and punched the accelerator, leaving the deputy in his dust. The officer gave chase and was joined by elements of the highway patrol and White County sheriff’s office.

The DeKalb County deputy turned back after a few miles but the other officers kept in pursuit as Hudson hit Highway 111 and topped speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

The feisty fugitive was able to give lawmen the slip long enough for him and his passenger to abandon the vehicle and take off on foot. However, they were spotted walking along the road later in the night and arrested by law enforcement.
