Robbery, escape, and keying a car over a wrong look is what makes this week’s city arrest report.
Three juveniles made an appearance in court on Jan. 24 after breaking into the Smithville Hemp Dispensary on Jan. 19. Once inside, $4,338.60 worth of property was taken. The juveniles gained access to the establishment by throwing a cinder block through the front window breaking the glass.
Krystle Rose Sweat, 34, of Smithville was charged with attempted escape and assault against an officer on Jan. 14. The charges stem from police responding to the court house to an active parole violation against Sweat. As the officer was escorting Sweat to the jail to be booked, she requested to let her boyfriend know that she was going to jail. The officer allowed her to stop at the vehicle where her boyfriend was waiting, and she got inside the vehicle and rolled the window up. The officer was able to get his hand inside the vehicle through a cracked window and reopen the door. At this time she began to fight with the officer and told her boyfriend to drive off several times. As the officer was trying to remove her from the vehicle, she pushed and kicked the officer striking him in the upper body area. The officer radioed for assistance and with their help, control was gained and she was taken back into custody. Her bond was set at $12,500.
Michelle Huard, 27, of Smithville was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine on Jan. 24. She was also cited for simple possession of a schedule III drug and drug paraphernalia. The charge comes after police assisted the State of Tennessee Probation and Parole during a house visit. During the search by the state, two bags that contained a crystal-like substance and a portion of a pill was found inside the couch. The officer was informed that the portion of a pill was Subutex and the crystal-like substance that weight approximately 1 gram field tested positive for methamphetamine. Also found in the couch was a glass pipe used in illegal drug activity, and two more glass pipes was found in a jacket pocket in Huard’s bedroom. Her bond was set at $5,000.
James Ricky Ashford, 41, of Liberty was arrested on Jan. 25 for criminal trespass and theft of property. On Jan. 23, Ashford seen an air compressor sitting in the driveway of a residence on Poss St. Later that night, he went back to the residence and took the air compressor, put it in his vehicle and transport it to his residence in Liberty without the consent or permission of the victim. Ashford was found to be in the possession of the stolen property on Jan. 25 and taken into custody. His bond was set at $3,000.
On 1/29/20 Danny Ray Prater, 33, of McMinnville was arrested on Jan. 29 for theft over $1,000. Police received a call about a possible stolen iPhone 11 Max Pro. The victim informed the officer that he lost his phone at Hardees and was using the iPhone app to locate the phone where the app showed the phone inside the restaurant. There was a man inside acting suspicious, and when asked if he saw a phone, he told the victim “no." Cameras were viewed and the suspect was identified as Danny Prater. Law Enforcement made contact with Prater behind Bill Page Ballpark, and when asked about the phone he gave the phone to police. His bond was set at $5,000.
Amber Cheyenne Caldwell, 25, of Smithville was cited on Jan. 21 for driving unregistered vehicle on highway and simple possession. During a routine traffic stop, the officer smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The officer ran the plates of the vehicle which came back as belonging on another vehicle. The officer made contact with Caldwell, who couldn’t provide proof of insurance and upon asking and receiving consent to search, the officer found 21 ½ pills believed to be Xanax, Suboxone, and Valium to which she couldn’t provide a prescription for.
Tina Lynn Cazee, 62, of Alexandria was cited on Jan. 26 for vandalism. Police responded to St Thomas DeKalb Hospital due to a lady keying the victim’s car. Upon investigation it was discovered that Cazee thought the victim had looked at her wrong and flipped her off. Cazee went into the hospital, then upon exiting hospital, she took her own key and caused damage to the driver and passenger side of the victim’s car.
