A machete-wielding man who attacked a woman earlier in the week in Cannon County has been nabbed after leading lawmen on a pursuit through DeKalb County.
Michael Holden Thomas was apprehended this past week in DeKalb County after his cellphone was pinged, placing him somewhere off Poss Road. Lawmen responded to the area and caught sight of his truck, tailing him onto Evins Mill Road. Meanwhile, a highway patrol helicopter joined the surviellience, watching him from the air as he approached Highway 70. Officers then converged, springing their trap as they laid down spike strips to disable his vehicle. He was surrounded and taken into custody in a nearby bean field.
Thomas had been wanted since Sunday when he tried to run over a Rutherford County officer who was trying to arrest him outside a bar in Murfreesboro. He had also been wanted for assaulting a woman and her children with a baseball bat after breaking into the home wielding a machete.
Thomas is facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault in Rutherford and Cannon counties along with a violation of parole from Kentucky.
