An extrication team had to be called to the scene of a truck crash last Sunday, after a box truck lost control on Allen Ferry Road and overturned. The driver was later flown to a hospital in Knoxville for his injuries.
According to Trooper Ben Cannon of the Tennessee Highway Patrol 42-year-old Justin Tittle of Knoxville, TN, was traveling east on Highway 83 (Allen Ferry Road), near Freels Lane, in a 2019 white Freightliner 26,000-pound box truck, hauling frozen meat products, when he ran off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then overcorrected, went back across the road, and ran off the left side before hitting an earthen embankment and flipping over.
Tittle was reportedly trapped in the truck and members of the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department’s Rescue team responded, and removed the windshield to reach him. He was treated at the scene by DeKalb EMS, then airlifted Life Flight and flown to a Knoxville hospital.
Deputies with the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department, DeKalb EMS, and Trooper Caleb Bain, also responded to the scene to render assistance.
