



A man and two teenagers were arrested after being caught in the act of burglarizing a business on Brush Creek Road on October 12.
Michael James Dodd, 20, a homeless man from Alexandria was charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, evading arrest, theft of property, and vandalism over $10,000.
On October 12, a deputy responded to a business on Brush Creek Road on a break in call. Upon arrival the deputy made contact with multiple subjects inside the building, along with a pry bar, a hammer, and a bat, believed to be used to break into the building. Dodd was seen behind the counter of the business putting items into a bag. The deputy ordered him to stop what he was doing and to show the deputy his hands. However, Dodd then allegedly turned around and took off running further into the store.
After getting the subjects into custody, multiple bags were found with miscellaneous hemp, vape, and tobacco products. The estimated value of the items was $5,760.Dodd caused damage to the front glass door, side glass window, a glass Stop and Pay machine, three ceiling tiles, a DVR, a computer, and a burglar alarm control box. The estimated value of the damage was $18,550. His bond was set at $65,000, and he is to appear in court Nov. 4. The two juveniles were also arrested.
On October 11, it was discovered that Shawn Edward Soales, 48, altered and tampered with electrical wires established by Caney Fork Electric Cooperative to obtain those services for his own benefit. Soales altered the wires to bypass the meter used to measure the amount of electricity used at his residence, therefore bypassing any billing. Caney Fork Electric show the residence as a vacant account since February 21, 2020, and the estimated amount owed is $5,601.21. He was arrested for theft of services on October 12. His bond was set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 18.
Shane Nerod Miller, 40, of Sparta Highway, Smithville was arrested on October 14 and charged with domestic assault. His bond was set at $10,000, and he is to appear in court Nov. 4.
On October 1, a deputy responded to Circle Drive and made contact with a female who stated that her and Miller had gotten into a physical altercation. The woman had scratch marks on her neck and Miller was determined to be the primary aggressor.
