The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Dowelltown man last week after the man allegedly violently assaulted two women and threatened to kill them.
According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, on October 2, 2021, 50-year-old Christopher Dale Cantrell of King Ridge Road, Dowelltown, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault. He is under a $20,000 bond and is due to appear in court on October 28.
Sheriff Ray said that deputies responded to Frosty Point Road after a 911 hang up call. Ray said that his department always investigates 911 hang up calls in case a victim is unable to speak or there are other circumstances where a caller cannot stay on the line.
Upon arrival, deputies made contact with two females who reported that Cantrell had shown up at their residence and confronted them about some alleged stolen property. One woman, along with other witnesses, reported seeing Cantrell armed with a propane tank and starting fluid, which he used to try to burn one of the females.
In self-defense the woman stabbed Cantrell. He then pushed the other woman, and stated he would kill her. Cantrell allegedly then proceeded to punch and hit one of women with a hammer. Both sustained significant injuries in the attack.
Authorities say that Cantrell caused imminent fear to both women, and due to the totality of the circumstances and physical findings he was found to be the primary aggressor and was placed into custody.
In other Sheriff’s news, 41-year-old Terry Brandon Maynard of Ferrell Road, Smithville, was arrested on September 28, on a sealed indictment from June 2, 2021. He is charged with methamphetamine manufacture deliver sale or possess with intent and in a drug free zone, and is under a $7,500 bond.
On September 30, 22-year-old Christopher Brent Parker of Pearce Street, McMinnville, was arrested for theft of property, after he was caught with a stolen vehicle. He is under a $5,500 bond and is due in court on October 21.
According to Sheriff Ray, a deputy received a call concerning a reckless driver on McMinnville Highway. The deputy was advised by dispatch of a possible silver or gold SUV that was traveling recklessly. Another deputy then advised the responding deputy that he was currently filing a report of a stolen vehicle matching that description.
The deputy made contact with the suspect near Webb’s Lane and was able to turn around to observe the registration, which matched the stolen vehicle. The deputy performed a traffic stop at Shiny Rock Market and placed Parker into custody.
On October 1, 26-year-old Mickael Flyn Mosely of Old Snow Hill Road, Dowelltown, was arrested for violation of the sex offender registry. He is under a $5,000 bond and is due to appear in court on October 28.
On September 28, Mosely failed to update the location of where he was staying with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities allege that Mosely had not lived at his registered address in over three weeks, and is on the sex offender registry for exploitation of a minor by electronic means in 2015.
The following day, 31-year-old David Micah Williams of Fuston Hollow Road, Auburntown, TN, was arrested for violation of bond conditions. He is under a $2,500 bond and is set to be in court on October 28.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a silver Kia for having a taillight out. Upon speaking to the occupants the deputy made contact with Williams and a female, and after checking through Central Dispatch, it was learned that Williams was under bond conditions out of Wilson County and was not supposed to be near the female. Williams was placed in custody.
On October 3, 18-year-old William Cody Colwell of Greenwood Drive, Smithville, was charged with underage driving while impaired, and was cited for failure to maintain roadways, open container, and implied consent for refusing a blood alcohol sample for testing, $1,500 bond and a October 28 court date.
A deputy was patrolling made contact with a blue Hyundai driving in the middle of the roadway. After a traffic stop, the deputy made contact with Colwell, who stated that he had consumed five or six beers earlier in the night. He also performed poorly on a field sobriety test.
The next day, 42-year-old Jeremy Ray Likens of Freeman Street, Tullahoma, TN, was charged with methamphetamine manufacture deliver sale or possess. He is under a $50,000 bond and has an October 28 court date.
On July 19, 2021, a DeKalb detective executed a search warrant on a 2007 Lincoln Town Car belonging to Likens. The search revealed 13 ounces of meth and a large sum of cash in excess of $10,000. There were additional baggies located in the vehicle as well. The money and narcotics are indicative of trafficking. The Sheriff’s Department seized the cash and the vehicle.
On October 4, 50-year-old Bryan Keith Waits of Smithville, was charged with public intoxication. He is under a $1,500 bond and is due in court October 28.
A deputy was dispatched to DeKalb Market in reference to a suspicious person who appeared to be intoxicated. The deputy made contact with Waits who had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person, and admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages before the deputy’s arrival. He was placed in custody.
