The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests last week, including one man for having a couple of stolen vehicles and a trailer, and three people for allegedly being under the influence during General Sessions Court.
Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that on January 20, 22-year-old Elishah Blayne Roberson of Monterey Highway, Monterey, TN, was arrested for three counts of theft of property over $2,500 and criminal impersonation. He is under a $31,000 bond and will be in court on February 9.
On January 19, a deputy responded to Nashville Highway in reference to a single vehicle wreck. The deputy made contact with a 2006 white Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, a black Cote utility trailer, and a gray 2015 Yamaha FZ7 wrecked.
The driver, Roberson, was located and initially reported his name to the deputy as Andrew Mullins. His true identity was later revealed.
Through a check through NCIC, it was learned that the truck was reported stolen out of White County, while the bike and trailer were reported stolen out of Lafayette, TN. Roberson reportedly admitted to being in possession of the vehicles.
On January 12, 40-year-old Bradley Shane Redmon of King Ridge Road, Dowelltown, and 29-year-old Samantha Shaye Goodson of Hendrixson Road, Smithville, were both arrested for public intoxication. Each are under a $2,500 bond and are due in court on January 26.
Officials say that Redmon and Goodson appeared to be under the influence of a substance while in the General Sessions’ courtroom. Both were seen was nodding off and slumped over in their seat.
Due to Redmon and Goodson being considered a danger to themselves, and annoying people in the courtroom, they were both arrested for public intoxication.
Just a week later, 23-year-old Allison Katherine Driver of Church Street, Alexandria, was arrested for the same crime. She is under a $5,000 bond and she is due in court on February 2.
Driver was in General Sessions Court when multiple subjects pointed out that the woman was nodding off and slumping over in her seat. Due to the woman being a danger to herself, and being an annoyance in court, she was placed in custody.
In other Sheriff’s Department news, 55-year-old Deborah Leigh Dickson of Lakewood Circle, Smithville, was arrested on January 9, for domestic assault. She is under a $3,500 bond and she is due to appear in court on January 26.
A deputy responded to Lakewood Circle in reference to a report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a man who reported that he and Dickson had been in a physical altercation over a cell phone. The man also showed video footage of the altercation.
Dickson told the deputy that they had been in an altercation and that she may have scratched the victim with her nails. The male reportedly had scratch marks on his right forearm. Dickson was then placed in custody.
An inmate at the DeKalb Jail was charged for bringing in contraband. Sheriff Ray said that 33-year-old Cassandra Renee Reed of Foster Road, McMinnville, TN, was charged with contraband into a penal institution. She is under a $20,000 bond and is due in court on the charges on February 2.
Between the dates of January 12 and 19, 2023, Reed allegedly received two letters which appeared to have been soaked in a substance, then dried and written on. There are recorded phone calls regarding the letters, between her and a male subject, and the need to obtain the letters before being transferred to another facility. The substance that is believed to be contained in the paper is Suboxone, which is a schedule III controlled substance.
A detective from the Sheriff’s Department spoke with Reed, who reportedly stated that it should be Suboxone on the letters and that they were sent by the male subject. The letters have been sent to the TBI Crime Lab for testing.
On January 15, 21-year-old Charis Annalee Wells of Park Circle Drive, McMinnville, was charged with violation of an order of protection. She is under a $1,500 bond and is due in court on February 2.
Authorities allege that Wells violated bond conditions in place by a court in Putnam County by being in contact with a protected person. A deputy had conducted a traffic stop on a silver Infinity for a traffic violation. Well was a passenger in the vehicle, while the driver was the protected person. An NCIC check revealed that Wells was under bond conditions not to be in contact with the male due to an aggravated assault charge.
The following day, 45-year-old Kevin Mark Moody of Taft Street, McMinnville, was charged with driving under the influence first offense. He is due in court on February 2.
A deputy was patrolling Lonnie Cantrell Road when he made contact with a black Chevy Impala parked in the middle of the road with its lights off. Upon making contact with the driver, Moody, authorities say he had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person, and that his eyes were bloodshot and watery.
Authorities allege that Moody admitted to drinking beer, and that there were opened and unopened alcoholic beverages in the vehicle with a receipt from a gas station from a purchase only a few hours prior. Moody submitted to standardized field sobriety tasks, which he performed poorly.
On January 17, 60-year-old Teena Cone Mooney of Rolling Acres Road, Smithville, was arrested for theft of property under $1,000. She is under a $1,000 bond and she is set to be in court on February 2.
Sheriff’s officials allege that Mooney entered the DeKalb County High School cafeteria locker room and entered a locker that belonged to someone else. Authorities say, Mooney removed a wallet from inside the victim’s purse, walked away from the view of surveillance cameras, and removed $500 cash before placing the wallet back inside the locker. Both the victim and Mooney are employed at DCHS.
On January 22, 31-year-old Brittany Paige Anderson of Nashville Highway, Dowelltown, was charged with domestic assault. She is under a $2,000 bond and will be in court on February 9.
A deputy responded to Nashville Highway for a report of a 911 hang up call. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Anderson, and a male subject who advised they had been in a physical altercation.
Anderson reportedly admitted to the deputy that she punched the male multiple times in the mouth, causing a busted lip.
