Local law enforcement and rescue personnel responded to the scene of a one-vehicle crash last Friday that left a local man trapped in his truck.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, at 9:42 am, 35-year-old Danny Prater as traveling east on Highway 70 (Sparta Highway) in a 2014 GMC Sierra pickup truck when he failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the road into the woods and struck a tree. The truck overturned and came to rest on its passenger side against a tree.
Members of the DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department’s Rescue Team, deputies with the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department, and DeKalb EMS responded to the scene, along with THP.
Prater was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated from the wreckage. He was then transported to the hospital and airlifted to Erlanger in Chattanooga.
The crash was investigated by Trooper Brent Collier with assistance from Trooper Bobby Johnson. Charges are pending an investigation.
