Come Eastern Star members for our 2021 Official Visit hosted by Smithville Chapter #374 and DeKalb Chapter #488, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2 p.m. in the DeKalb County Community Complex. Homecoming & Revival, Oct. 10
Covenant Baptist Church, corner of Miller Road and Short Mountain Street, will be having Homecoming on October 10, 2021 beginning at 11 a.m. lunch will be served. Revival will begin that evening at 5 p.m. Bro. Thurman Seber will be bringing the message. Monday through Friday services will begin at 7 p.m. Special singing nightly. Everyone come join us.

DeKalb Soil Conservation, Oct. 15
Every year the Natural Resources Conservation Services seeks public comment on how NRCS farm bill programs are administered in conjunction with DeKalb Soil Conservation District. The County SCD will be holding an open forum on Friday, October 15 at 10 a.m. at the County Complex History Room. Also attending will be Johnny Barnes, the County AG. Agent. We would like to invite any agriculture producer or concerned citizen of the DeKalb County to give input as to what priorities NRCS should be addressing the following concerns for 2022: Aquatic Habitat, Concentrated Erosion, Degraded Plant Condition, Field Pesticide Loss, Field Sediment Nutrient, and Pathogen Loss, Fire Management, Livestock Production Limitation, Pest Pressure, Soil Quality Limitations, Source Water Depletion, Storage and Handling of Pollutants, Terrestrial Habitat, and Wind and Water Erosion. Drug Take Back Day, October 23
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is set for Saturday, October 23. As part of this major health and safety initiative, the DeKalb Prevention Coalition will host this take-back event at Smithville City Hall and the Alexandria City Hall from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The public will be provided the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. (Sites cannot accept liquids, needles or sharp instruments, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Commodity Distribution, Oct. 28
The Upper Cumberland Humane Resource Agency will hold a commodities distribution for DeKalb County on Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the DeKalb County UCHRA office. Sing-up will be available at the distribution site. The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency does not discriminate on the basic of age, race, color, sex, national origin, religion, or disability in admission to, access to, or operations of its programs, services, or activities. This project is funded under a Grant Contract with the State of Tennessee.

Are you interested in a Grief Support Group? We are concerned about all the losses in our area. If you or someone you know, would be interested in a group this fall call 615-597-4673. Let us know if a day or night group would be best for you. Also, would you need child care? There is no charge for support groups. We do offer individual grief counseling. If there is no insurance coverage we have a sliding fee scale and some scholarships.
