A man with dementia who wandered away from home Monday was found Tuesday morning after a hunt was mounted from both land and air for his whereabouts.
The man, Daniel Stanley, 40, suffers from Huntington ’s disease which causes progressive dementia. He disappeared from his home on Blue Springs Road just after 10 a.m. Monday, prompting concerns of his whereabouts. Members of the sheriff’s department and rescue squad conducted a search for the man but to no avail as he remained missing into the night Monday. A helicopter from the highway patrol equipped with FLEER, a device which detects heat signatures, was launched to look for Stanley from the air but their efforts also came up empty.
After remaining missing all night, Stanley was spotted sitting in a chair at Mystik Market off McMinnville Highway just after 8 a.m. Tuesday. He was no worse for wear and told officers he had been walking in the woods during the time he was unaccounted for.
