Need for Speed - Hudson tops 100 in chase

Joshua Hudson had a lead foot while being chased by lawmen this past week.

A Sparta man faces felony evading charges after he led officers on a high speed pursuit, topping 100 miles per hour.

The suspect, Joshua Andrew Hudson, 24, is charged with evading arrest and reckless endangerment. His charges come after a DeKalb County deputy tried to pull him over at the DeKalb-White County line. According to Sheriff Patrick Ray, the suspect pulled into the parking lot of a business as if he was going to stop but then gunned his engine and sped off.

The deputy followed in pursuit and was soon joined by elements of the White County Sheriff’s Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol. While the DeKalb officer peeled off the pursuit as it neared Sparta, the other officers kept chasing the speeding vehicle, noting Hudson topped speeds of over 100 miles per hour at times during his attempt to escape apprehension.

Hudson and a passenger were able to get a gap from their pursuers after they got onto Highway 111 in White county. They took the opportunity to ditch the vehicle and flee on foot. However, they were unable to make a clean get away as the pursuing White County officer found them walking along the road later. They were arrested and also have charges pending in White County.
