Parkerson re-elected school board chairman

During Thursday night’s regular monthly meeting, first district member Danny Parkerson was re-elected to serve as chairman for the next twelve months. Meanwhile, seventh district member Shaun Tubbs was re-elected Vice-Chairman and third district member Jim Beshearse was re-elected as a Tennessee Legislative Network (TLN) representative for the board.
The board re-organizes each September electing officers to serve for the year.
In his monthly report on personnel, Director of Schools Patrick Cripps said Cameron Lester has been granted a leave of absence as requested and Nathalie Kintz has resigned.
Tuesday, September 22 will be a virtual learning day for DeKalb County High School 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. Those students, not already enrolled in virtual learning at DCHS, will not attend school in person that day, September 22, but must participate in virtual learning. All 12th graders must report to DCHS in person September 22 to take the ACT tests. Students in all the other schools, Smithville Elementary, Northside, DeKalb Middle, and DeKalb West School, not already enrolled in virtual learning, must also attend their schools on campus in person that day, September 22, as normal.
