Local law enforcement worked a couple of vehicle crashes last week, including an overturned tractor-trailer. Officials say the truck driver managed to walk away unscathed last Thursday.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 34-year-old Caleb S. Lang was traveling east on Allen’s Ferry Road in a 2013 Freightliner tractor-trailer when the vehicle dropped off the right side of the roadway and sideswiped a utility pole. The semi then re-entered the roadway and ran off the left side of the roadway, striking a barbed wire fence, where it overturned. It came to rest on its left side in a field.
On Saturday, authorities responded to another crash where the vehicle ran off the roadway. A woman was seriously injured in the crash Saturday on Belk Road, south from Obie Adcock Road.
The THP reported that 39-year-old Christy Hunt was traveling south on Belk Highway in a 2017 Dodge Charger when the car failed to maintain its lane of travel and ran off the left side of the roadway into a ditch.
The car then continued traveling south, off the roadway before hitting a large tree with the front end causing disabling damage to the vehicle. After impact, the car came to a final rest facing southbound off the roadway.
Hunt had to be airlifted from the scene by an air ambulance in serious condition.
A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car on Highway 70 in Liberty last Saturday night.
According to Trooper Brandon Duvall of the THP, 27-year-old Zachary Allen Williams of Liberty was crossing the highway near his home when he was struck by a westbound 2003 black Chevy Corvette, driven by Christopher Joseph Peercy of Murfreesboro.
Peercy tried unsuccessfully to avoid hitting Williams as he (Williams) attempted to jump out of the way of the car.
Williams was airlifted from near the scene to Vanderbilt Hospital. Peercy was not hurt. No charges have been filed.
