Pedestrian Struck

An accident late Sunday night resulted in a pedestrian being flown to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, on April 3, at 8:47 p.m. an injury crash occurred between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian. Authorities say that 28-year-old Jody Lattimore was traveling southbound on Short Mountain Highway in the right lane in a 2018 Kia Optima, when it struck a man walking in the right lane of travel. Carlos Alejandro Rueda Dehza, 24, was struck by the vehicle.

Authorities say that Lattimore stopped immediately and notified first responders of the accident. Dehza was tended to by DeKalb EMS before being flown to the hospital by an Air Evac hospital.

No charges have been issued in the accident.
