Putting on a yard sale is hard work
carolgunter

Hope everyone is doing o.k. and able to sit up and take

nourishment.  Today is Wednesday, October 18th and this will be the
best day out of the week according to the weather people.  Some rain
for us on Thursday night and into Friday morning with some drizzle.
Wish we would get more than just a few tenths of rain from this front
coming through, but we'll be glad for any rainfall we receive since we
need it so badly.
Third time around for our yard sale worked out well this past
weekend.  It was a success as a lot of people showed up.  Beverly
Hubler, Sherry Gannon and I had a great time during the sales on
Friday and Saturday.  Friday's sales were brisk with more people
coming by than on Saturday.  Friends Russell Taylor, Alene Ferrell
(her husband Melvin is doing better), Martha Parker, Betty Barnes,
Donna Prater, Connie Cantrell, Jelaine Taylor, Brenda Neal, Kim Hall
and son A.J., and Rick Henderson and wife Debbie all stopped by to say
hi and do some looking around for some bargains.
Putting on a yard sale is hard work.  Next spring sounds like a
good time to have another one.  By then I will have accumulated more
stuff to try and clear out so I can once again breathe.  I don't see
this cycle ending any time soon.  A person will definitely get
exercise in the process and meet some new people in the community.
It's a win-win situation.
It never fails as each year passes by when October 25th comes
around that my thoughts are on a wonderful Christian lady, Mrs. Annie
Bell Preston.  She went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on
October 25, 1995.  Cancer finally took her life here, but she's been
living in heaven now for twenty-eight years.  Always a treat for me
when I got to talk to her or be with her.  She loved Jesus with all
her heart.  A lady we all admired and loved here on the mountain and
always will.  We were all so blessed by her presence and how she loved
the Lord so well.  She made a difference in my life and I'm sure so
many others.  We wish we could have kept her here longer, but that was
out of our hands.  Your permanent home awaited you in heaven with
Jesus, and oh, how happy you must be.  Someday we'll be joining you
there and what a reunion that's going to be.  I just had to honor you
Mrs. Annie Bell for a life well-lived and well-served for Jesus.
Sort of odd when I was joking about aliens in the last column,
because on the tube the other night there was a program about
"aliens/little green men" and a government cover-up.  They mentioned
Roswell, New Mexico and supposedly a spacecraft that crashed and how
quickly the site was all cleaned up where it happened.  Other people
having mentioned seeing aliens in different locations across the
country.  Now I don't know if aliens exist, but you, probably like me,
have witnessed some strange human behavior in your lifetime that you
have wondered were they from another planet?  You just might have been
in their presence and were not aware of it.  Bobby Taylor said he was
friends with a few aliens at one time and he told me they were crazy
about pizzas.  Even in the comic strip Garfield, he offered pizza to
the little green men, and they loved it.  Garfield was wanting the
aliens to take him to their leader, and he thought the pizza would do
the trick.  There may be some credence to people believing aliens
exist after all.  This is "all up in the air" now for the time being.
A celebration of Life for Ralph Gunter was held on Saturday,
October 14th in Liberty, Tennessee.  He was quite a guy, and we are
all missing Ralph in our lives.  Accepting Jesus Christ as his Savior,
Ralph made the best decision of his life.  No more suffering for you.
You are well now from head-to-toe and in the presence of Jesus for
eternity.
Randy and Gail Neal have some chickens that have started laying.
They, I imagine, will be selling some eggs before long.  My tuna
supply and crackers are in the cabinet to get me through what could be
a harsh winter.  Now I'm thinking with chickens this close to me,
chicken and dumplings could be in my future, if this inflation keeps
trying to do me in.
Please keep in prayer:  Cecile Ferrell (she is doing somewhat
better), Mary Melton, Joe Gunter, Bill Nokes, Ronald Lawson, Linda
Pedigo, Sepal Pedigo, Charlie Mai Daniel, Alene Ferrell, Grant
Luffman, the family of Ralph Gunter, the people of Israel, and our
country and its leaders.
