Ragland bottoms closed due to bacteria
ragland bottoms
Ragland Bottoms has been closed until further notice.

High bacteria levels have forced the temporary closure of Ragland Bottoms beach.

The closure, ordered by the Army Corps of Engineers, came Friday after routine testing of the water in DeKalb County water spot revealed dangerously high amounts of bacteria in the water at the day use beach there.

Signs have been put up at the location, warning people the beach is closed until further notice due to health concerns associated with the bacteria. The area is still open for picnicking and boat launching. Those who come to the swimming area are being directed to Floating Mill where their day use beach is still open.

Testing will continue until the swimming spot attains acceptable levels. For any questions pertaining to the beach closure, please call the Center Hill Lake Resource Manager’s Office at 931-858-3125.
