A Liberty man who had four outstanding warrants who ended up literally running from a sheriff’s department deputy, and a Sparta man who ended up with a boat load of charges after vandalizing and burglarizing several boats are among those arrested this past week by DeKalb County deputies.
David Dewayne Anderson, 49, of Liberty tried to elude a deputy after a traffic stop was attempted on July 19, 2019. Anderson, the driver of a maroon Honda Passport, continued driving after the deputy activated his emergency equipment, at one point crossing into the opposite lane and passing a vehicle putting it and its passengers in danger. Anderson continued on Old Mill Hill Road until he crashed his vehicle into a tree. The deputy witnessed Anderson jump from the car and run down the road toward Dry Creek, but was able to apprehend him. After a search of the vehicle, a clear pipe with .19 grams of a clear crystal-like substance, believed to be methamphetamine, was found. Anderson was arrested and charged with driving on revoked/suspended license, reckless endangerment, two counts of evading arrest and methamphetamine manufacture/deliver/sell/possess. He was also served with warrants for failure to appear and three violation of probation. His total bond was $15,000, and he is set to appear in court August 8, 2019.
Chadwick Noble Dunham, 38, of Sparta was arrested on July 17, 2019 and charge with three counts of burglary, three counts of theft of property and two counts of vandalism. Dunham allegedly entered three different boats in the Timber Lane area on July 14, 2019 taking a knee board, marine speakers, assorted cleaning supplies, a boat anchor, black generator cover, several fishing rods with reels and fishing tackle. He also destroyed fishing rods, a trolling motor, battery and wiring. His total bond was set at $31,500, and he is scheduled to appear in court August 1, 2019.
Ryan Davis Taylor, 25, of Smithville was arrested July 16, 2016 and charged with burglary and theft of property. His bond was set at $50,000, and he is to appear in court August 8, 2019. On or about July 8, 2019, Taylor allegedly entered a shed on Alexandria to Dismal Road and took a Stihl weed eater, 460 Stihl chainsaw, Milwaukie battery grease gun, two half-inch titanium impact saws, and a Milwaukie battery powered impact wrench. The tools were valued at over $2,900. Taylor was out on bond awaiting a trial date for other crimes which had taken place in the same areas in 2018. After his arrest, his bond was revoked by Judge Gary McKenzie.
Billy Jason Lackey, 42, of Whorton Springs Road was arrested on July 16, 2019 and charged with driving on revoked/suspended license. A deputy saw Lackey operating a black Kia Sportage on Highway 56 in front of Food Lion. Having knowledge Lackey was known to drive the vehicle and that his license were suspended, the deputy turned around to try to make contact with Lackey but was unable to. The officer spotted the vehicle again on Highway 56 turning onto Whorton Springs Road. Lackey was stopped, and having been warned numerous times about driving without a valid drivers license, and the likelihood the offense would continue, he was arrested and taken to jail. His bond was set at $3,500, and he is to appear in court July 25.
