A 65 year-old of Austin Bottom Road beat his wife so severely she was physically unable to move for several days, at which time she escaped the residence. Robert Joseph Salyers was arrested on July 23 for aggravated assault. The incident was investigated by a Sheriff’s detective.
The beating took place on June 24 when Salyers used a belt to hit his wife in the head, back and buttocks. He then kicked her in the head, the groin and punched her in the face, finally dragging her by the hair upstairs. After the beating, the wife was unable to move almost a week, when she was able to escape on June 30 and was picked up by a passerby and taken to the emergency room. Salyers’ bond was set at $15,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court July 23.
Another assault took place on July 5, where 25 year-old Tavarius Dandre League of McMinnville was arrested. A sheriff’s deputy responded to a physical domestic at a residence on Jefferson Road. When he arrived, he saw a female who had blood on her shirts and legs and bruises and marks on her throat. Several witnesses stated that the female and Leauge had been arguing all night. He was arrested and charged with assault. A bond of $3,500 was set and he is to appear in court July 23.
Michael Steven Conners, 50, of Dowelltown, was also arrested and charged with assault on July 5 after allegedly pulling his girlfriend from a vehicle. Officers responded to Jacobs Pillar Road where someone had reported seeing a woman lying in a ditch. The female said Conners had pulled her out of the vehicle and thrown her bags on top of her head causing redness and scratches to her face. She also suffers from road rash.
