The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, made a surprise visit to a home on Adcock Cemetery Road last week, resulting in the discovery of a large amount of drugs and several arrests.

According to DeKalb Sheriff Patrick Ray, on Monday, February 28, deputies with the DeKalb and Warren County Sheriff’s Department conducted a search warrant at a residence at 745 Adcock Cemetery Road in Smithville. During the execution of the search warrant, authorities say that multiple drugs were found, including methamphetamines, heroin, marijuana, Xanax, subutex, methadone, oxycodone, as well as numerous items of drug paraphernalia. Other items related to the sale of drugs were also found, including scales, baggies, and other items. Law enforcement also seized $1,208 in cash.

Sheriff Ray said that during the search other items were found in the home related to a burglary and theft of a local church in Smithville. The Smithville Police Department was notified and also responded to the residence in relation to the theft items.

Tawanna Ann Evans (AKA Tawanna Petty), 42, of Hooper Street, Smithville, was charged with possession of a Schedule I drug (Heroin), Schedule III drug (Suboxone), and Schedule IV drug (Xanax) with intent to sell or deliver and drug paraphernalia. She is under a $75,000 bond.

Inside Evans’ bedroom law enforcement allege they found heroin, Xanax pills, buprenorphine pills, a mass amount of baggies, scales, pipes and other paraphernalia. She also had an additional 1.08 grams of heroin on her person.

Also arrested was 49-year-old Melisha Renne Martin of Adcock Cemetery Road, who was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver; possession of a Schedule II drug (Methadone); a Schedule I drug (Heroin); a Schedule IV (Xanax); a Schedule II drug (Oxycodone); and possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana) with intent to sell or deliver. She is under a $95,000 bond.

Inside Martin’s bedroom Sheriff Ray said authorities discovered heroin, Xanax pills, Oxycodone, methadone pills, methamphetamine, marijuana, and a large amount of baggies, scales, pipes and other paraphernalia. Inside a car registered to Martin were additional marijuana and meth.

Dickie Ray Bain, 53, of Old Snow Hill Road, Smithville, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a Schedule IV drug (Xanax), a Schedule III drug (Suboxone), and possession of a Schedule I drug (Heroin) with intent to sell or deliver. He is under a $75,000 bond.

Sheriff Ray stated that inside Bain’s bedroom authorities discovered heroin, Xanax pills, buprenorphine pills, a mass amount of baggies, scales, pipes and other paraphernalia. Additional baggies and paraphernalia were located in a truck outside the residence registered to Bain. He also had a large amount of cash on his person, which was seized.

The last arrest was that of 36-year-old Justin Lynn Murphy, Sr. of Highland Street, Smithville. He was charged with possession of a Schedule I drug (Heroin), a Schedule III drug (Suboxone); and possession of a Schedule IV drug (Xanax) with intent to sell or deliver. He is also under a $75,000 bond.

Inside Murphy’s bedroom authorities say they found heroin, Xanax pills, buprenorphine pills, a large amount of baggies, scales, pipes and other paraphernalia. He also had a glass pipe in his pocket.

All of those charged are due to appear in court on March 17.
