



Several defendants pled guilty in DeKalb Criminal Court last week, including several facing drug charges.
Rickey Lee Tisdale, 45, pled guilty to possession of a schedule II drug (methamphetamine) under 0.5 grams and was sentenced to six years, all suspended to supervised probation. He was given a fine of $2,000 and must undergo an alcohol and drug assessment and follow the recommended treatment. He received 88 days jail credit.
Authorities say that on November 22, 2021, deputies noticed a vehicle, driven by a male subject, not wearing a seatbelt. Deputies then noticed the vehicle pull into an address where deputies were attempting to serve a warrant. The driver was found to be Tisdale, and the officer had prior knowledge did not have a valid driver’s license.
A search of Tisdale resulted in deputies finding a Crown Royal bag with a scale, with residue, a metal container with two clonazepam pills inside, a baggy with tinfoil inside, and a marijuana cigarette.
Tisdale’s vehicle was then towed and an inventory search was conducted. Inside, a magnetic box was found under the driver’s seat that contained a white clumpy substance believed to be heroin, a baggy containing a crystal-like substance believed to be meth, more additional baggies, and other drug paraphernalia. A Highpoint pistol was also found between the driver’s seat and the center console.
Michael Joseph Lee, 31, pled guilty to attempted aggravated burglary and was sentenced to four years to serve for a case that occurred on November 17, 2020. Lee had forced his way into a home by kicking in a side door. He was originally charged with aggravated burglary and a violation of an order of protection. He received 259 days of credit for time already served.
Michael Willie Jov Richmond, 47, entered a guilty plea to possession of a schedule II drug (methamphetamine) over 0.5 grams, and was sentenced to eight-years, all suspended to supervised probation with a $2,000 fine. Richmond was given jail credit of 63 days.
On December 17, 2021, Richmond, a homeless man in Smithville, was arrested for violation of the sex offender registry, and methamphetamine manufacture, deliver, sell of possess.
According to Sheriff Ray, Richmond was found at an address on East Broad Street in Smithville, and stated he had been living at the address since December 11, 2021. Officials say he had not reported the address in the time allotted slot of 45 hours to register a new address, per Tennessee Sex Offender rules.
Richmond was also found with an estimated 1.5 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be meth, contained in several different pieces of paper and baggies.
Devin Duke, 27, pled guilty to possession of a schedule II drug (cocaine) over 0.5 grams. He was sentenced to eight-years, all suspended to supervised probation with a $2,000 fine. He was given 83 days of time served.
On November 24, 2021, an Smithville officer responded to Alexander Street, where Duke was receiving treatment from DeKalb EMS. There, the officer could see a large bag of a white powdery substance laying on a table next to his bedroom door. Authorities also discovered a scale and baggies commonly used in the sale and delivery of narcotics. The bag of white powder weighed approximately 10 grams.
Casey La Raine Emberton, 36, pled guilty to driving under the influence first offense and was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days, all suspended except 48 hours to serve. She was also fined $350, and will lose her license for one year. She also must complete the Alcohol Safety Education Program and attend the MADD Victim Impact Panel.
