Several people appeared in DeKalb Criminal Court last week to be sentenced for their crimes. One man was sentenced after being charged in a joint investigation between the Smithville Police Department and the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department.
On Wednesday, December 13, 46-year-old Robert Bradford pled guilty to four counts of burglary for a rash of Mini-Storage unit burglaries. He received a total of eight years all suspended to probation except for one year to serve. He was given jail credit from June 12 to December 13, 2023.
Bradford was arrested on June 12 after a search warrant was executed at his home. There, several stolen items were found, along with other items believed to be stolen from May 23 through June 12.
Mercedes Leighann Hegwood, 23, pled guilty to aggravated burglary and received a three-year sentence all suspended to supervised probation for a case that occurred on November 1. She was also placed under a restraining order to keep away from the victim.
Callie Marie Donna Combs, 29, pled guilty to reckless driving and was sentenced to five months and twenty-nine days, all suspended to supervised probation by the Cannon County Recovery Court. The sentence is to run concurrently with a Cannon County case.
On February 22, 2022 a deputy was summoned to a traffic accident where Combs was found to be the operator of a vehicle in the crash. She was found to be drowsy, and her speech was slow. She also performed poorly on field sobriety tasks.
On November 27, 2023 the DeKalb County Grand Jury indicted two for sale of meth, over .5 grams and delivery of meth, over .5 grams for Bradley John Baker and Kobe Keelan Ray Cantrell. Each was given a $250,000 bond.
