A local resident has thrown his hat into the ring for the position of DeKalb County Road Supervisor. Wayne Shehane announced last week that he is running for the position in the Democratic Primary on May 3, 2022.
When asked why someone should vote for him, Shehane said that he has 45 years of experience in road and bridge construction, and has worked for many years with Jones Brothers Construction and Bell and Associates in Nashville. During his career Shehane supervised over 80 employees and foremen, and managed construction projects ranging from $2 million to $250 million.
Shehane said he is a lifelong resident of DeKalb County, and lives in Smithville. He has been married to Jean Gay Shehane for 51 years, and he has one daughter, Kristie Shehane, and two step-sons, David and Hank Dawson. Shehane also has nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
“I’ve had a lot of people come to me and ask me to run,” Shehane said. “I’m asking the citizens of DeKalb County to give me a chance to show what I can do with our roads. I’m interested in fixing the roads, and they are in bad need of repair.”
The Democratic Primary will be held on May 3, 2022, while the General Election is set for August, 2022.
