The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests last week, including a man wanted out of Florida.
Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that on June 12, a homeless man, 24-year-old Jeremy Edward Sester, was arrested after a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Sester.
After running the man’s license through dispatch, it was learned that he was wanted out of Monroe County, Florida, for a warrant on a violation of probation. He is under a $75,000 bond and he is due in court on June 23.
On June 6, 39-year-old Jenny Elizabeth Murphy of Lonnie Cantrell Road, Smithville, was arrested for violation of bond conditions. She is under a $2,500 bond and she is due to appear in court on June 16.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy was dispatched to Dry Creek Road for a welfare check on a female subject that was walking down the road. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Murphy and a male at the Dry Creek swimming hole.
After running their names through Central Dispatch and NCIS the deputy learned that there was an active bond condition out of Sevierville, TN, stating that Murphy was not to be in contact with the male subject.
On June 11, 38-year-old Tabatha Marie Batey of Vinewood Road, McMinnville, was arrested for fraudulent use of a credit card. She is under a $7,500 bond and her court date is set for June 23.
Sheriff Ray said that on February 28, 2022, to March 14, 2022, Batey knowingly used a debit/credit card without the owner’s consent. Through an investigation, DeKalb detectives say Batey allegedly used the card for a total amount of $3,613.56, which deprived the owner of their money.
On June 12, 35-year-old Jason Alexander Sturdivant of Page Drive, Smithville, was charged with resisting stop, halt, search or arrest. He is under a $3,500 bond and he is set to appear in court on June 23.
Authorities say that a deputy responded to Page Drive to attempt to make contact with Sturdivant for warrants out of Wilson County. Authorities say that the man fled on foot in an attempt to evade law enforcement. He was soon captured and placed under arrest.
