Smithville Elementary Kindergarten 

Smithville Elementary will hold Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the County Complex. Please bring copies  of the following documents to Registration:

Certified copy of Birth Certificate

Current, up-to-date, physical examination and immunization record. (These must be on a Tennessee Department of Health Certificate of Immunization, which can be obtained from your doctor’s office or the Health Department).

Proof of residency for DeKalb County (gas bill, electric bill).

Your child will need to attend. He/She will be assessed on this day.

Children who register to attend Kindergarten must turn 5 years old on or before August 16, 2024.

 

FCE Meetings

The FCE will be meeting the 2nd Tuesday of each month. The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. at the DeKalb County Complex in the Motlow Conference room. Everyone is invited to attend.

Empower Upper Cumberland offers FREE grant-funded program for low- to middle-income families with children

Want more for your family? Empower Upper Cumberland is a FREE grant-funded program for low- to middle-income families with children ages 0-17 years in the home.

If you receive Free or Reduced Lunch at school, are receiving SNAP or TennCare, or make less than 225% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines then you may be eligible for this program.

Empower UC is enrolling families continuously and has funding to help working families get more out of life to become more prosperous. Some ways we might empower families are:

Help with finding & keeping employment (or higher paying employment), transportation to/from work, support services, healthcare costs, finding childcare or helping with costs, higher education, financial counseling, credit recovery and much more. The Warren County Genealogical & Historical Association plan to meet on April 20, 2024 time 2 p.m. at 201 Locust Street McMinnville, TN 37110 in the Early voting room.

 

Commodity Distribution, April 25

The Upper Cumberland Human Resources Agency (UCHRFA) will hold a commodities distribution for DeKalb County on Thursday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the DeKalb County UCHRA office. Sign-up will be available at the distribution site. The Upper Cumberland Human Resources Agency does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, sec, color, national origin, religion, or disability in admission to, access to, or operation of its programs, services, or activities. This project is funded under a Grant contract with the State of Tennessee.

 

DEA National Take Back Day April 27

Take Back Day will be Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be two locations. Smithville City Hall, 104 East Main Street, Smithville, TN 37166 and at Alexandria City Hall, 102 High Street, Alexandria, TN 37012.

Rabies Clinic 2024, April 30

Rabies Clinic will be held by Animal Clinic of Smithville, 440 East Broad St., Smithville, TN 37166, 615-597-1726. The clinic will start at 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. then from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Rabies Vaccinations only $12. Mark Burke, DVM.

Jefferson Cemetery will have their decoration and business meeting on May 5, 2024. Everyone is welcome.

 

 

DeKalb County School Calendar for 2023-24

The school calendar is set for the 2023-24 year.

The last day of school will be May 21, 2024. May 20 will be an abbreviated day.

Report cards will be issued at all schools on May 21.
