The Smithville Police Department held their annual Cops with Kids at Smithville Head Start last Friday. Throughout the year the department collects donations, then they buy gifts for the kids. At the event, officers sang songs, told the story of Christmas, and hand out the gifts.

Chief Mark Collins said that this year the event featured a couple of special guests, with Santa Clause and the Grinch making appearances. “It’s something we do to give to the kids, and we’ve been doing it even before I came to the department,” Chief Collins said.
