Smithville police made several arrests over the past couple of weeks. Included in those taken into custody inside the city limits were:
Marcus John Peregoy, 47, was arrested for Simple Possession and cited for Simple Possession and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. While on routine patrol, police observed a hooded male subject walking in behind Wal-Mart towards the trees who looked suspicious due to it being 10 p.m. and made contact with Peregoy who informed them that he was on probation. Peregoy was asked and gave consent to a search where officer located a black container with 2 round white pills and two white pill pieces believed to be Buprenorphine Hydrochloride and 3.2 grams of a white crystal-like substance believed and tested positive to be methamphetamine in his right front pocket. Also found were a glass pipe and a metal pipe.
Christopher Gene Adams, 26, a former resident of Sober Living Halfway House was arrested for public intoxication. Police responded to a call of a person laying on the ground close to Kwik N Ezy on East Broad Street. Upon arrival the officer found Christopher Adams laying in the grass behind the store. Adams had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. Adams was unable to perform field sobriety tasks due to his level of intoxication. Adams was checked out by EMS and refused treatment at which time he was arrested for his and the public’s safety.
Jaquantez “Bud” Shermont Pearson, 35, of McMinnville was arrested on 11/6/18 for Driving on Revoked 2nd. Police responded to a 911 call to 109 Oak St and upon further investigation Jaquantez Pearson was an unwanted guest upon the property. Pearson was then asked to leave but couldn’t provide a valid driver’s license. During the course of investigation, it was discovered that Pearson had driven a Ford Expedition to the residence. Upon a computer check, Pearson had a previous charge of driving while on revoked on 8/13/17. Pearson’s license is revoked for failing to pay original violation dated 3/17/07. Pearson was then placed under arrest for Driving on Revoked 2nd due to the fact that he has continued to drive.
Darnell Fieldon Lee Gurley, 40, was arrested for Violation of Protection Order and Child Support Attachment. Officer went to 624 Estes St to serve and active warrant on Gurley for Child Support. Gurley was found hiding inside a closet in the home and a computer check revealed that there is an active Order of Protection against him from having contact with the petitioner who lives at this residence. He was placed into custody for the active warrant and charged with Violation of Protection Order.
Anthony Shane Seals, 42, of Rogersville was arrested for DUI 3rd and cited for traffic control device/signal, financial responsibility, unregistered vehicle, and driving on revoked 2nd. Police observed a vehicle fail to stop at the red light on W. Broad St and initiated a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver found to be Seals, the officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The officer was informed that Seal had been drinking earlier in the day and was asked to perform and consented to field sobriety tasks to which he performed poorly. Seal’s license was found to be revoked for failure to maintain proof of financial responsibility in July 2018. Seal also has restricted license in which he is supposed to have an alcohol interlock device in which this vehicle did not have one installed. He had two prior DUI charges: 2/22/17 and 8/13/18. The vehicle he was driving also was improperly tagged and not registered to him. Seal was taken to the hospital for a blood draw and then taken into custody for DUI.
Kristie Renea Shehane, 46, was arrested for public intoxication. Police responded to North Side Elementary School in reference to a possibly intoxicated female. Upon arrival the officer made contact with Shehane and noticed her to have slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol about her person. Shehane was asked to step outside and speak with the officer and as she stood up, she was unsteady on her feet and almost fell several times. Shehane was escorted to the bench outside and the officer discovered that she had drank alcohol earlier in the day. Shehane did refuse sobriety tasks and she was taken into custody.
Matthew Robert Geekie, 30, was arrested on for filing a false. While assisting County deputies serve a warrant, Geekie advised law enforcement that the subject was not in the residence although when officers were approaching the house the subject was seen through a window of the residence. After warning him he could be charged for making a false report if he continued to lie about the subject’s presence in the house, he again told the officers that the subject was not there and that they could go in and look. After entering the residence, the subject was found to be hiding in a room in the back part of the house by the County Deputy. Geekie was then arrested without incident.
Walter Shane Ogle, 42, of Liberty was arrested for DUI. Police responded to the area of Whaley Street for a possible DUI. Upon arrival the officer seen the described vehicle turn into a driveway at which time he activated the patrol cars blue lights to initiate a traffic stop. Upon making contact with the driver found to be Ogle, he noticed him to have slurred speech and while stepping from the vehicle he was unsteady on his feet. Ogle was asked and submitted to field sobriety tasks to which she performed poorly.
