Smithville police made several arrests and issued several citations over the past month. Included in the recent Smithville Police reports:
Charles Owen Blanchfield Jr., 65, of Dowelltown was arrested for DUI and cited for Implied Consent. He was involved in a motor vehicle accident on South Congress Blvd where he appeared unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech, and had an odor of alcohol on his person. It was discovered that Blanchfield had drank about three beers at which time he was asked and consent to field sobriety tasks to which he performed poorly. He was arrested without incident and refused implied consent at which time a search warrant was then obtained for blood.
Ruben Alavez Mejia, 23, was cited for for DUI, no license, Due Care, and Financial Responsibility. Police responded to the bridge at the intersection of Broad and South Mountain Street where Mejia had crashed head on into the bridge. Mejia was unable to stand on his own, had blood shot eyes, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his person, and passed out on scene. He was transported to the emergency room.
Steven R Halcomb, 43, of McMinnville was arrested for public intoxication. Police received a call concerning a possible intoxicated individual in the parking lot of Mapco. Officers made contact with Halcomb who appeared to be under the influence. He had slurred speech, an odor of alcohol on his person and unsteady on his feet. It was discovered that he had been drinking beer a couple hours prior to this incident. He was taken into custody without incident.
Davey Wayne Fox, 55, was arrested for DUI. Police found Fox passed out at the wheel of his vehicle while parked half way in the travel lane at Wal-Mart. Fox was awakened and asked to step out of the vehicle and upon exit he was unsteady on his feet, had glossy eyes and had an odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person and breath. Fox was asked and consent to field sobriety tasks to which he performed poorly. Fox was taken into custody without incident.
Eva Dover, 49, and Paul Willingham, 39, were cited for methamphetamine, simple possession x12, and drug paraphernalia. Police responded to Green Brook Park in reference to two people passed out in a parked vehicle. Upon arrival police made contact with Eva Dover in the passenger seat and Paul Willingham in the driver’s seat. Consent to search vehicle, person, and personal items was given and found in a Hardee’s bag in the passenger floor board was a pill bottle that contained a crystal-like substance believed to be approx. 2 grams of methamphetamine. In the passenger car door was 1.5 pills and in Dover’s purse was 27 pills, all believed to Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine, Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride. Dover was given a citation for methamphetamine and three citations for simple possession. In the driver’s side door was a cigarette filled with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and found in Willingham’s right left pocket was a plastic bag with a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana for a total approximate weight of nine grams. A glass pipe and 2 ink pen shells with residue were also found in Willingham’s front left pocket. In Willingham’s front right pocket were 21 pills believed to be Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine, Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride, Alprazolam, Oxycodone Hydrochloride, and Oxymorphone Hydrochloride extender release. Willingham was given a citation for drug paraphernalia and eight citations for simple possession. Neither party could produce a prescription for the pills found.
Christopher Eugene Layne, 31, was arrested in Lafayette Georgia for Theft of property over $2500.00. Layne allegedly took a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck from a residence with the intent to deprive the owner of the vehicle. Layne exercised control over the property without the owner’s effective consent. The Lafayette Police Department in Georgia found Layne to be in control of the vehicle a few days later.
Jackie Blake Sanders, 35, was cited for shoplifting. Sanders allegedly concealed a knife in his pocket with the intent to deprive O’Reilly Auto Parts of its merchandise.
Micah Gabrille Heckman, 26, of Lutts was cited for simple possession and drug paraphernalia. While on routine patrol, police seen a man with a flash light looking in a truck that looked suspicious. Upon speaking with Heckman he was asked if he had anything illegal on him and he attempted to hide a syringe in a blanket. He was also found to have a folding gold mirror with a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine (approximately .2 grams), and a marijuana grinder.
Lindsey Hunter King, 23, of McMinnville was arrested for DUI and cited for Simple Possession, DL Violation, Financial Responsibility, and Failure to Maintain Lane of Travel. Police observed a vehicle operated by King make an illegal U-turn in the middle of W. Broad St failing to maintain his lane of travel by turning from the west bound lane to the east bound lane. Upon contact with the driver, identified as King, it was observed that he had slurred speech and appeared slightly disoriented. He was asked to exit the vehicle and perform several filed sobriety tasks to which he performed poorly. He did have an odor of alcohol coming from his person and police discovered he had three shots of whiskey a short time earlier. A search of person incident to arrest revealed a baggie containing approximately .35 ounces of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.
Michael Edmiston, 49, of Rockvale was arrested for DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and cited for implied consent. Police responded to West Broad Street for a possibly intoxicated driver. Upon arrival the officer observed the described vehicle weaving in the roadway. By the time the officer caught up with the vehicle, the vehicle had turned into a business. Before the officer pulled up to the vehicle, Edmiston had already exited the vehicle to urinate. Edmiston had an odor of alcohol on his person, unsteady on his feet, and slurred speech. Edmiston was asked and consent to field sobriety tasks to which he performed poorly. Edmiston did refuse to give blood for testing. A loaded Ruger .380 caliber handgun was located in the vehicle.
Larry Kevin Murphy, 42, of 429 Jackson Street was arrested for driving on suspended 3rd and cited for financial responsibility. Murphy hit a parked vehicle in the parking lot of McDonald's. He was found to be driving on a suspended license and did have auto insurance. He was arrested instead of being given a citation because he was involved in another accident on 8/18/18 with major vehicle damage.
Randall Eugene Tittle, 49, and Randall Tittle, 44, and Brandi Renee Beckham, 34, were cited for simple possession. Police did a welfare check due to a suspicious vehicle with its headlights off parked behind a closed business. Inside the vehicle were two males and a female. Police searched and found in the possession of Randall Eugene Tittle was a plastic bottle which contained five tan colored capsules believed to be Gabapentin. Randall Tittle was found to have a white pill in a plastic bag identified as Methadone and Beckham was found to have in her possession nine tan colored capsules believed to be Gabapentin. No party involved could produce a prescription for the pills.
Michael Lynn Vance, 49, is charged with assault and resisting arrest. Police were dispatched to Crestlawn Avenue due to a noise complaint. Vance was intoxicated and ordered to go inside his residence to avoid going to jail for disorderly or public intoxication. Vance became aggressive and advanced toward the officer. Vance had a large knife in his hand and got more aggressive as he approached the officer. The suspect would not comply with orders to stop and at one-point Vance turned around and the officer took the opportunity to take him to the ground. Vance did attempt to resist arrest and after several minutes was taken into custody.
Larry Kevin Murphy, 42, was arrested for driving on a suspended license. Police observed Murphy operating a motor vehicle on the roadway headed west on West Broad Street. Police pulled Murphy over as it was known that he didn’t have a valid driver’s license. Murphy’s license was suspended for failure to pay original violation date of 2012 out of Cannon County. Murphy was taken into custody for the reasonable likelihood that the offense will continue.
