Emergency personnel worked a scary crash last week after a woman leaving an even at DeKalb County High School was t-boned by a truck.
On Monday, October 25, at approximately 8:00 pm, 43-year-old Kenneth Summers of Smithville was traveling west on US Highway 70, West Broad Street, in a 2018 Dodge Ram truck. At the same time, 2014 GMC Acadia driven by 43-year-old Sherry Daniels of Smithville was attempting to make a left turn out of the DeKalb County High School parking lot.
Authorities say the Acadia pulled into the path of the Ram, with the Dodge colliding into the left side of Acadia. The Ram came to final rest around area of impact, while the Acadia traveled a short distance east before coming to final rest in the turning lane.
Smithville Police, Smithville Fire, deputies with the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol, and DeKalb EMS responded to the scene.
Summers was not injured in the crash, but Daniels incurred injuries and had to be extricated from the wreckage by Smithville Fire. She was transported to the hospital by DeKalb EMS. A 16-year-old passenger in the Acadia was not injured in the crash.
