NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Michael Hale, R-Smithville, today announced $86,350 in state grant funding has been awarded to museums in Jackson and Smith counties for capital maintenance and improvement projects.
The Granville Museum will receive $67,950 and the Smith County Heritage Museum will receive $18,400. The funds are part of a $5 million budget appropriation approved by the Tennessee General Assembly earlier this year and administered by the Tennessee State Museum.
“Museums are incredible assets that preserve our history and provide valuable educational opportunities to the public,” Hale said. “These funds will ensure that continues for generations to come. I appreciate this important investment in our community.”
A total of 108 Capital Improvement and Maintenance grants were awarded to museums in 58 counties statewide following a highly competitive application process.
All projects must be completed by June 30, 2024.
