



























The early competitions at the Smithville Fiddlers’ Jamboree went off without a hitch last Friday morning, but as evening approached, high winds, rain and lightning put an end to the evening events, for the first time in the Jamboree history.
As a result, the finals events were canceled and Friday’s award winners were announced Saturday morning, with the top three contestants in the preliminaries being crowned with awards.
The award winners are as follows:
In the Old Time Appalachian Folk Singing category, Lily Goebel of Elkton, KY, took the top spot, while Emma Tinch of Cookeville came in second. Third place was awarded to Angelica Branum of Murfreesboro.
For Junior Clogging, Colleena Ralston of Lebanon came in first place, while Makayla Foster of Cookeville was awarded second place. Jacob Fennell of Dickson came in third.
In Junior Buck Dancing Kody Hash of Walland, TN was awarded first place, while Treble Chunn of Greenbrier, TN, came in second. Colleena Ralston of Lebanon came in third.
The top award for Old Time Appalachian Folk Singing Duet, Trio, or Quartet went to Brock and Tater of Cookeville, while Mountain Cove of Chattanooga came in second. Nora Jane and Joe of Nashville were awarded third place.
In the Dobro Guitar category, Noah Goebel of Elkton, KY, came in first place, while Tyler Andal of Nashville came in second. Amelia Brown of Springfield, TN came in third.
In the Mountain Dulcimer competition, Tyler Andal of Nashville was awarded first place, with Pam Hunt of Mansfield, OH, claimed second. Rob Pearcey of Smyrna came in third.
For the Hammer Dulcimer category, Nicole Tressler of Madison, AL, came in first place, while Pam Hunt of Mansfield, OH, claimed second. Lisa Tressler of Madison, AL, came in third.
In the Novelty Event, The Tiny Rice Unit (Sarah Harris) of Rockvale, TN, claimed the top prize, while Trenton “Tater” Cruthers of Cookeville was awarded second. Third place went to Marshall Murphy of Knoxville, TN.
In the Auto Harp category, Bill Rothe of Estill Springs, TN, came in first place, followed by Pam Hunt of Mansgfield, OH in second. Beth Rickest of Inverness, FL, came in third.
For the Gospel Singing Solo competition, Emma Tinch of Cookeville was awarded first place, with Lily Goebel of Elkton, KY, taking second. Matthew Campbell of McMinnville claimed the third place award.
In the Country Harmonica category, Rob Pearcy of Smyrna claimed first place, while Terry Bartlett of Gallatin took second. Third place went to Marshall Murphy of Knoxville.
For the Old Time Banjo competition, Tyley Andal of Nashville was awarded first place, while Joe Overton of Smithville claimed second. Trenton “Tater” Cruthers was awarded third place.
For the Gospel Singing Duet, Trio or Quartet competition, Brock and Tater of Cookeville claimed the top prize, with Mountain Cove of Chattanooga coming in second. Angelica Branham and Sarah Harris of Rockvale, TN, took third place.
For the Mandolin category, Tyler Andal of Nashville came in first place, with Noah Goebel of Elkton, KY, coming in second. Reed Stutz of Nashville was third place.
In the Old Time Fiddle Band category, the Slim Chance Band of Smyrna claimed the top prize, while Tater and the Po’Tates of Cookeville took second. The Mountain Cove Old Time Band of Chattanooga claimed third place.
