Tallent threatens to cut pizza man

Felony assault charges have been leveled against a local man who threatened the pizza man with a knife.

The suspect, Marty Tallent, 52, is charged with aggravated assault, a crime that carries three to six years in prison if convicted.

According to Smithville Police reports, an employee of Pizza Hut went to a residence on West Broad Street to deliver a pizza. When the deliveryman knocked on the front door, Tallent reportedly came to the door with a knife.

“He ordered the employee to leave the pizza and leave the residence,” the report reads.

The pizza man did what he was told. “He put down the pizza for fear that Tallent would cut him,” the report revealed, noting the deliveryman retreated to his vehicle and called police. Officer responded to the scene and arrested Tallent on the felony charge.
