After three months on the lam, an alleged teenage jewel thief has been snagged in Dallas, Texas.
The suspect, Jario Godinez, 19, has been
shipped from Texas to the Williamson County Jail where he waits to appear before
the court to answer to charges that he stole over $80,000 worth of jewels form
Cool Springs. He was caught as he tried to sneak out the back door of a place
he had been staying in Dallas.
The DeKalb County teen has been wanted since the incident that happened Oct. 26 at Grogan Jewelers which is located inside Cool Spring Galleria in Franklin. Lawmen there say Godinez walked up to a clerk at the store and asked to see some merchandise. However, as he was being shown the merchandise, he grabbed the jewelry and ran. His crime along with his face was caught on surveillance camera, prompting lawmen there to put out an all-points-bulletin for his arrest. His ill-gotten booty included a dozen tennis bracelets – some of which were found on his person as he tried to give police the slip in Dallas.
