Rebecca Hope Thomas, 27, of Smithville was cited for theft. Chief Collins states that on April 23, 2024, police were called to Mapco for a possible theft, and after an investigation and review of video footage it was determined that Thomas did take items from Mapco without paying. She was located and issued a citation for theft. She went to court on May 9.
Johnathan Daryl Lawson, 34, of Liberty was cited for simple possession of Schedule six drug, drug paraphernalia and failure to maintain lane of travel. Chief Collins states that on 4-24-24 while on patrol an officer observed a vehicle swerve into the wrong lane of travel upon a traffic stop. A strong odor of what believed to be marijuana was coming from the vehicle, and after a search of the vehicle a small bag of green leafy substance was found along with a set of scales with white powdery substance that the driver admitted to be cocaine. He is to go to court May 22, 2024.
Christie Dawn Bouldin, 43, of Smithville was arrested for public intoxication. Chief Collins states that on 4-27-24 police received a call of a female on the front porch of 314 Wade St. Upon arrival police found Ms. Bouldin to be in a state of confusion and showing signs of Euphoria under the circumstances she was place into custody her bond is $2500 and court date is May 16, 2024. She was also issued a no trespass order and told not to back on the property.
Arrested is 60-year-old Charles Edward Kirby of McMinnville for driving on revoked license. Chief Collins states that on April 28, 2024 officers received a call of a reckless driver coming into Smithville after locating the vehicle it weas stopped in the parking lot of Walmart/Verizon upon speaking with the driver and a check of his driver’s license it was found he had a restricted driver license with a interlock device. No interlock device was found in the vehicle. Mr. Kirby was issued a citation for driving on revoked. And did call someone to pick him up. About 45 minutes later Mr. Kirby was seen leaving the parking lot driving the vehicle again upon stopping the vehicle Mr. Kirby was placed into custody and his bond was set at $3,500. His court date is May 16, 2024.
David Haskell Pippin, 64, of Sparta was cited for simple possession. Chief Collins states that on April 27, 2024 while on patrol an officer noticed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road on East Broad St. upon contact with the driver officers noticed a strong odor of Marijuana was coming from the vehicle, 14 yellow pills in a plastic baggie believed to be Gabapentin was found hidden ion a sunglass case. Pippin stated he did not have a prescription for the pills.
Robin Wayne Reyes, 65, of Smithville was arrested for assault. Chief Collins states that on April 29, 2024 Reyes was arrested for assault for kissing an 11-year-old female inappropriately on the head multiple times without the parents or minor’s consent. Bond is $10,000, and his court date is May 16, 2024
Ryder Lee Miller, 48, of Dowelltown was arrested for evading arrest and leaving the scene of an accident. Chief Collins states that on May 1, 2024 police responded to Allen Ferry Rd upon arrival witnesses stated that the driver of one of the vehicles had left the scene and ran into the woods behind Village MKT. After a lengthy search the driver was located and placed into custody and charged with leaving the scene and evading arrest his bond is $10,000 and his court date is 5-16-24. THP was called to investigate the accident.
Stephen Grant Ashburn, 55, was arrested for DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence, resisting arrest and evading arrest. Chief Collins states that while on patrol an officer observed a vehicle unable to maintain lane of travel by crossing the center line several times. After initiating emergency equipment vehicle travel approximately one mile before pulling over. Driver of vehicle was given instructions to exit the vehicle several times and failed to comply. After being removed from the vehicle subject still failed to obey officers request in showing and giving them his hands. After getting Mr. Ashburn cuffed and, on his feet, officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person with watery and red shot eyes along with slurred speech. Field sobriety test was attempted but Ashburn was unable to perform. A warrant for Mr. Ashburn’s blood alcohol content. Upon search of the vehicle a loaded handgun was recovered directly above the driver’s seat which was easily accessible to Mr. Ashburn along with 2 empty bottles of liquor. Bond is $17,000 court date is May 23, 2024. He was also cited for expired registration and failure to maintain lane of travel.
Nahum Gaspar, 27, of Smithville was arrested and charged with Domestic Assault x2 Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest. Chief Collins states that on May 12, 2024 Smithville Police were dispatched to Wade St for a physical domestic in progress. Upon officers’ arrival Police discovered Mr. Gaspar to be irate and violent. It was discovered that Mr. Gaspar had assaulted his girlfriend by attempting to strangle her and pull her hair. Mr. Gaspar then proceeds to assault the girlfriends’ parents by striking them and kicking them. Mr. Gaspar refused to comply with the officers and had to forcefully gain control over him. Mr. Gaspar’s bond is $17,000. His court date is May 30, 2024.
