A threatening note was found in the boys' room at the high school Tuesday.

A threatening note has sparked concern after it was discovered in a bathroom at the high school Tuesday, prompting extra security measures to be taken when school resumes Wednesday morning,

The note, which was found near the end of the school day a student in the boy’s restroom, made a threat toward DeKalb County High School. While it was not known who wrote the note or if it was meant at as a hoax or legitimate threat, school officials and law enforcement are not taking chances as they plan to beef up security Wednesday morning. They also sent out a message through their mass notification system, letting them know about the threatening note.

The message read:

“Late in the day on August 13, the administration of DeKalb County High School received information of a concerning nature. After assessing the information, the school system contacted local law enforcement. A note was found in a restroom making a threat to do harm at school on Wednesday. This is an unsubstantiated threat but we are taking it very seriously and are continuing to work with law enforcement to make sure the school is safe for all students. If those responsible for this threat are located they will be prosecuted for their actions”.

If the note was left by a juvenile, the perpetrator, along with facing academic ramifications, will also be taken before juvenile court for action. If the note writer is found to be an adult, they could be charged with making terroristic threats and could face jail time.
