A shoplifter ran out of time this past week when he had to be wrestled to the ground by police after he was caught stealing a wristwatch.

The man, Bobby Gene Anderson, 65, was arrested for public intoxication, assault, resisting arrest and was cited for shoplifting.

Police responded to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. “Upon arrival the officer was informed by a Wal-Mart employee that Anderson was attempting to shoplift and leave the store,” the police report revealed.

Acting on the accusation by the Wal-Mart employee, the policeman ordered Anderson to stop but the shoplifter lit out and tried to run away.

“The officer caught up with Anderson and attempted to place him in custody when the suspect assaulted the officer by pushing him,” the report read.

At that point the officer latched onto the alleged thief and took him to the ground. Once on the ground the officer had to forcibly handcuff him. At that point the lawman could smell an odor of alcohol on Anderson’s person.

During a search of his person a wristwatch and a pair of shoes were recovered and returned to the store.
