Traffic stops nets heroin, meth
Vanatta mug

Sheriff Patrick Ray said a deputy patrolling Keltonburg Road on Oct. 4 noticed a vehicle swerving across the center line. Stopping the vehicle led to the arrest Stephanie Lee Vanatta with her accumulating six charges and a total bond of $83,500.

Forty-two year-old Vanatta was charged with sale or delivery of a schedule VI drug, sale/delivery of a schedule IV drug, sale/delivery of a schedule I drug, meth manufacture/sale/possess, DUI second offense and failure to appear.

After the deputy stopped the vehicle, the driver, Vanatta, was talking very quickly and admitted to having used meth earlier in the day. She also said she was on probation. She consented to a sobriety task but did poorly. A search of her vehicle netted 11 grams of marijuana contained in five different bags, 15 Xanax pills in three separate baggies, .4 grams of heroin wrapped in tin foil, 1.40 ounces of meth, extra baggies, scales, drug paraphernalia and cash. She was also served with a warrant for failure to appear to an earlier court date of Sept. 26, 2019.
