

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department made many arrests over the past couple of weeks, including the arrest of a Smithville man who now faces major drug charges.
Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that on August 12, 39-year-old Nathan Joe Trapp of Magness Road, Smithville, was arrested after Sheriff’s Department Detectives served a search warrant. He is charged with two counts of possession of methamphetamine over 300 grams, possession of a schedule III drug Subboxone, possession of a schedule IV drug Arasappan and Clonazepam, possession of a weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of an order of protection, and altering a VIN number. He is under an $181,000 bond. He is due to appear in court on August 25.
A detective, along with deputies with the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant at 379 Magness Road, Smithville. The search resulted in the discovery of 650 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, two whole orange pills and broken pills believed to be Suboxone, two Arasappan bars, and five Clonazepam pills. There were also numerous scales, baggies, and other drug paraphernalia located.
Two loaded Taurus 9mm handguns were found, and one DB5.56 Cal. AR-15 rifle located at the residence. A large sum of cash was also located. Trapp was also found to be under an order of protection and is not allowed to possess any firearms.
Trapp was also in possession of a black Chevy Silverado truck that had an altered VIN number. The number was altered by being removed from the dash and doorjamb of the vehicle. The VIN on the frame of the truck has also been removed.
Sheriff’s officials seized various items of property, including a 2003 Nissan Murano, a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle, and $30,750 in cash.
