Twenty pounds of unwanted or expired medication was collect by the DeKalb Prevention Coalition on the 19th Annual DEA take back day in October.

 

The DeKalb Prevention Coalition has have two permanent RX drop boxes located at the Smithville Police Department at 104 East Main Street in Smithville and Alexandria City Hall located at 102 High Street in Alexandria in case someone was unable to make it by.

 

On average the Smithville Police Department collected 30 pounds per month in the permanent drop off box. Alexandria has collected 86 pounds of unwanted or expired medication since June at their box location.

They cannot take needles, large amount of liquid medication or aerosol inhalers.
