Upper Cumberland's Middle Tennessee Hemp Fest
Hemp Fest

Upper Cumberland’s Middle of Somewhere Hemp Fest Rolls into DeKalb County August 12 Smithville, TN - The Fifth Annual Middle of Somewhere Hemp Fest will fill the grounds of Bert Driver Nursery in Dekalb County Saturday, August 12, in celebration of the plant, products, and producers of Tennessee’s thriving hemp industry. “The cannabis plant - hemp - has been part of Tennessee’s agricultural heritage for more than 100 years,” notes Bert Driver, hemp grower, producer, and festival host. “Five years ago, we started Hemp Fest to promote the plant and economic opportunities it brings, and the many hemp products which appeal to today’s lifestyle.” For attendees, Hemp Fest is an opportunity to hear some great music, learn about hemp, relax, and connect with friends old and new on the scenic seven-acre nursery just outside Smithville. The event is family and pet friendly, Driver notes. Gates open at 4PM. Music starts at 6PM when Damian C. brings his brand of blue-eyed soul to the Redbud Stage. Headliner LadyCouch follows around 7:30PM, guaranteed to get the crowd moving to their funk soul groove. With 14 players, including a five-horn section, it’s a big band with a big, bright sound. As a celebration of all things hemp, attendees will have an up close opportunity to sample Tennessee hemp products, meet area producers and buy from them. New this year, Platinum Sponsor Cumberland Cannabis Co. will set up a “dab bar” where those 21 and older can legally enjoy hemp-derived THC from a wax form through sterilized rigs to inhale vapors. “This may be the first opportunity for many in our area to see what the dab bar is all about and why it’s catching on with hemp aficionados all over the country,” notes Driver. Other cannabis exhibitors include Maxwell Hemp, Quarter Spring Farm, Legacy Haus, SnapDragon Hemp (also a series sponsor), Volunteer Hemp Co., and Driver’s own Hemp Brothers. Also on hand will be Tin Type Photography, Cutting Edge Solutions, Bio Chair, and more artists and craftsmen to be announced, and offficial show sponsors Center Hill Realty and Chalets, Limestone Title Company, Hurricane Marina, and Cedar City RV, as well as series vendor Crooked Creek Designs. Throughout the festival attendees can purchase local craft beers from Calfkiller Brewing Company, as well as domestic beverages (including non-alcoholic options) at the Burlap Room Tap Room on site. Food will be available from YaYa’s Food Truck and Tio’s Taco Truck. “We’ve got everything in place to make this year’s Hemp Fest another fun celebration of the lifestyle and outdoors which make the Upper Cumberland such a great place to call home,” Driver sums up. “A splendid time is guaranteed for all.” All events are rain or shine; in the event of rain the concert and festivities move inside to the enclosed Solstice Stage.
