Complete virtual learning has been extended through Friday, November 16 with the hopes of students returning to campuses Monday, November 18.
In a statement released Monday, Director of Schools Patrick Cripps said, “Due to the increased number of COVID cases and quarantines among faculty and staff, DeKalb County School will continue virtual learning through November13. We hope to return in in-person learning Monday, November 16.
The school system transitioned to full virtual learning on Oct. 28 for the same reason stated above. Students were originally scheduled to return to school on Nov. 11.
DeKalb County cases continue to increase and have changed very little in the number of positive cases reported since the Oct. 28 transition. These positive cases affect the non-positive, as well. If someone who is negative has been around someone who is positive, they are required to quarantine for the 14 day period.
