We keep hearing on main stream media “this is the most important election of your life,” and that seems to be the consensus of local voters as well. They are turning out in droves to cast their ballots during early voting hours.

DeKalb County voters are taking advantage of early voting for the November 3, 2020 election. The first day saw a line half way around the courthouse with a total 528 votes recorded. There were 287 in-person votes and 241 absentee ballots.

"The number of in-person voters on day one was a tremendous number and showed the interest in this election, “Dennis Stanley, Administrator of Elections said.  "We hope more people take advantage of the convenience of early voting."

The election commission reported the following daily totals: Wednesday 287 in-person and 241 absentees; Thursday 303 in-person and 17 absentees; Friday 336 in-person and four absentees; Saturday 247 in-person and 21 absentees; and Monday 346 in person and 16 absentees. This brings the total of early votes casts, as of press time, 1,818.
