Watson racks up several charges

On 1/1/20 Matthew Phillip Watson, 30, of Cleveland was arrested on Jan. 1, 2020 for DUI, Altering a VIN number, Possession of a Handgun while Intoxicated, and cited for Speeding, Financial Responsibility, and Implied Consent.

While on routine patrol, police observed a truck speeding at 62-mph in a 40-mph zone. Upon conducting a traffic stop the officer made contact with Watson who had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. Upon running the tag through Central Dispatch, it was discovered that the tag on the truck belong to another vehicle. The officer looked for a VIN# located on the dash by the front windshield and noticed it appeared to have been tampered with. Upon further investigation and receiving consent to search the vehicle, a machine was used to access the vehicles computer which reveal a different VIN# other than the one on the registration he produced or the VIN plate on the vehicle. A Glock pistol was found in between the driver’s seat and the center console. Watson was then arrested on the above charges and cited due to him not having insurance and for refusing a blood test at which time a Blood Search Warrant was issued. Bond: $13,000 GS: Jan. 16

Alicia Nichole Cobb, 34, of Luttrell Avenue was cited on Jan. 3 for Dog at Large.

On Dec. 30, 2019 police responded to Luttrell Ave due to a blue Pitt Bull dog on multiple properties and neighbors informed the officer that they were afraid of the dog. No contact with the owner was mad and Animal Control was contacted to detain the dog. On 1/3/20 contact was made with Cobb and she was able to retrieve her dog. City Court: Feb. 4

Charles John Ward, 40, of Luttrell Ave was arrested on Jan. 6 for Domestic Assault.

Police responded to the residence on Luttrell Ave and found a pool table flip on its side. It was discovered that Ward was intoxicated and became aggressive with the victim and tried to push the pool table at her until it flipped over nearly striking her. Ward would not speak with the officer and he had slurred speech. Upon investigating the situation, the officer determined Ward to be the primary aggressor. Bond: $3,500 GS: Jan. 23

Leah Nichole Sylvester, 21, of Hayes Court was arrested on Jan. 7 for Domestic Assault.

According to the warrant, Sylvester did assault the victim by hitting her face during an argument. The victim’s face and neck were red and Sylvester was determined to be the primary aggressor. Bond: $3,500 GS: Jan. 3.

Bobby Wayne Pinegar, 43, of Smyrna was cited on Jan. 7 for shoplifting. Pinegar can be seen on Tractor Supply Company surveillance concealing items and leaving the store without purchasing them. The items were found in Pinegar’s car in the front seat and returned to the store. GS: Jan. 23.

Johnny Wayne Trapp, 63, of Holmes Creek Rd was arrested on Jan. 7 for Public Intoxication. Police responded to ER due to an irate patient. Trapp was making inappropriate comments and when asked to stop, he became irate. When the officer spoke with Trapp, he could smell an alcoholic beverage on his person and when he was asked what had happened, he became loud and began to curse. Trapp was taken into custody without incident due to his intoxication and annoying people in the vicinity. Bond: $1,500 GS: Jan. 23.
