DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department deputies made several arrests last week, including a woman who made a false claim concerning a sexual assault.

Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that 23-year-old Emilie Jo Parrott of Bedrock Drive, Whitehouse, TN, was arrested on March 4, for filing a false report. On February 18, 2021, Parrott filed a report at the Sheriff’s Department concerning an alleged sexual assault. After investigating the report and interviewing the victim, authorities say that the report was found to be false.

Parrott is under a $7,500 bond and she is due in court on March 24.

On March 3, 27-year-old Amber Cheyenne Caldwell of Pine Orchard Road, Smithville, was arrested for fabricating or tampering with evidence, and introduction of contraband into a penal institution. She is under a $15,000 bond and she is due in court on March 24.

Sheriff Ray said that on February 28, Caldwell made a willful statement while being issued a citation at a traffic stop, and prior to being taken into custody, that she had swallowed a point of heroin in an attempt to avoid criminal charges.

Later, at around 4:09 p.m. a correctional officer was going through Caldwell’s belongings, when Caldwell allegedly stated that there would be a marijuana roach in the front pocket of her purse. The officer found a green leafy substance, wrapped in a rolling paper, believed to be marijuana.

The following day, 33-year-old Kyle Cooper Denton of Tomahawk Lane, Doyle, TN, was arrested for theft of property over $1,000. He is under a $15,000 bond and his court date is set for March 24.

According to Sheriff Ray, on October 4, 2021, Denton took several items from a victim on Cripps Lane in Smithville. The items were later pawned at two locations at Cash 4 U Pawn and KK’s Loans Music & Jewelry in McMinnville. The items were identified as a Speedaire gas air compressor, a Dewalt impact gun with charger and batteries, a TroyBilt pressure washer with Honda engine 2600 psi, a Hobart 110 volt MIG welder, and a NAPA battery charger. The total value of the items were $2,860.

That same day, 36-year-old Joshua Joel Bain of Blue Springs Road, Smithville, was charged with domestic assault. He is under a $3,500 bond and is to appear in court on March 17.

Sheriff Ray said that a deputy was dispatched on a report of a physical domestic, and upon arrival he made contact with a female who reported the she and Bain had been in an argument, when Bain struck her on the right side of her face. Authorities reported that the woman had a large red mark on the side of her face.
