A woman goes to jail on Christmas after beating her boyfriend over the head with a broom, while two men found with methamphetamine and heroin take a trip to the pokey.
A DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a domestic call on Lee Braswell Road on Christmas. A male stated he and Jennifer Pitt, 46, had gotten into an altercation, and she struck him in the head multiple times. The victim did have knots on his head as well as blood on him and in the residence in the floor. Pitt did admit she and her boyfriend had gotten into an altercation, she had hit him in the head with the broom, and called EMS when she saw that he was bleeding. Pitt did not have any visible signs of injury herself. The deputy arrested Pitt and charged her with domestic assault. Her bond was set at $2,500, and she is to appear in court Jan. 9, 2020.
Travis Michael Jenkins, 21, of Carthage was arrested Dec. 27 and charged with multiple charges including criminal impersonation, driving on revoked/suspended license third offense, DUI, Meth/Mfg.,/Del/Sell/Poss and possession of controlled substance sale or del/mfg. A passenger in Jenkins’ vehicle, Patrick Ryan Goolsby, 40, of Smithville was also arrested and charged with meth/mfg/del/sell/poss and possession schedule I drug, heroin.
The arrests come after a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a tag light and registration violation. The driver was Jenkins. When the deputy asked the driver’s name, he told the deputy his name was Tyler Jenkins and his date of birth. Shortly, he gave the deputy a different birthdate. Through an investigation, his true identity was revealed. A driver’s license check revealed his licenses were revoked for failure to file an accident report in Murfreesboro dating back to 2013. It also revealed he had two other droving on revoked charges. The deputy noticed Jenkins’ seemed to be under the influence of controlled substance as his speech was rapid, and he had jerky body movements. Jenkins admitted to have used marijuana and pills. He was given and performed poorly on field sobriety tasks. He agreed to an implied consent of a blood test, but a warrant was also obtained. Jenkins also gave consent to search his vehicle. During the search deputies found 1.6 ounces of methamphetamine and scales, along with 3.5 grams of heroin and scales on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Jenkins bond was set at $82,000 and Goolsby’s was set at $70,000. They are both scheduled to appear in court Jan. 9.
