A Murfreesboro woman landed in jail last week after leading deputies of a 100 mile per hour chase and attempting to hit two vehicles head on. The chase ended with the woman crashing her vehicle.
DeKalb County Sheriff Patrick Ray told the Smithville Review that on June 28, 29-year-old Brandi Nicole Warren of Halls Hill Pike, Murfreesboro, was charged with evading arrest and reckless endangerment. Her bond is $40,000 and she will be in court July 14.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy observed Warren driving a silver Honda Civic swerving into oncoming traffic. After attempting to pull the car over, the vehicle fled and attempted to hit two vehicles head on at speeds of 100 plus miles per hour before wrecking her vehicle. Authorities say the chase lasted for four miles.
After being taken into custody, Warren said that she thought that if she pretended to try to hit a car head on, the pursuit would be called off. She advised that she had ran because she had warrants against her from Rutherford County and didn’t want to get arrested.
On July 1, 48-year-old Ginger Elaine Moore of Cookeville Highway, Smithville, was charged with domestic assault, and simple possession of a schedule II & III drug. Her bond is $3,500 and she will be in court July 21.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy responded to a call of an assault in which the victim reported that her daughter, Moore, had slapped her across the face twice, leaving a red mark that was bleeding on her left cheek. A bottle containing 2.2 grams of methamphetamine, and half a buprenorphine pill was also found in Moore’s purse.
That same day, 34-year-old Zackery Wade Lay of Antioch Road, Smithville, was charged with theft of property over $60,000. His bond is $25,000 and will be in court on July 21.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy received a tip of the location of stolen property at a residence on Ferrell Road. The deputy located a 2017 Ford F-250, a 2017 Diamond gooseneck trailer, a New Holland tractor, and a Woods brand batwing Bush Hog, all reported stolen earlier in the day by the property owner. Lay was found in possession of the property.
On July 2, 33-year-old Colver Cruz Fuentes of North Broadway Street, Portland, TN, was charged with driving under the influence first offense, no driver’s license, violation of the open container law, driving on roadways laned for travel, and violation of implied consent. His bond is $1,500 and he will make a court appearance on July 21.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy pulled over the driver of a black Nissan Altima on Nashville Highway for crossing outside his travel lane multiple times. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and on the driver, Fuentes. He also spotted an open container of Modelo in the cup holder.
Fuentes admitted to having been drinking prior to driving. Fuentes was asked to step out of the vehicle to the front of the squad car, but was found to be unsteady on his feet. He submitted to, but performed poorly on, field sobriety tasks and refused to give a blood sample.
On July 3, 65-year-old Fred Thomas Dowell of Sliger Road, Smithville, was charged with methamphetamine manufacture, sell, deliver or possess, fabricating or tampering with evidence, driving on a revoked license and running a stop sign at Tiger Drive and Allen Ferry Road. His bond is $60,000 and he will be in court August 4.
Sheriff Ray said that a deputy pulled over a silver Mercedes SUV. During the investigation central dispatch advised that Dowell had a warrant against him. When the deputy asked Dowell to step out of the vehicle, Dowell tried to hide a folded-up piece of paper under the center console. After removing it from the man’s hand, the deputy said he found a clear crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.
