A woman looking for a snake in her car was among people Smithville Police encountered over the past week. While they found no snake they did find she was under the influence.
Angela Renee Rhea, 44, of McMinnville was arrested for DUI 2nd. Police observed a white vehicle sitting at the ATM on S Congress Blvd and noticed it still sitting there 45 minutes later at which time the officer conducted a welfare check. The officer was informed by Rhea that she was looking for a snake in her car. Rhea’s pupils were dilated and wouldn’t restrict. The officer was informed that she had taken Gabapentin earlier. She was asked and consent to field sobriety tasks to which she performed poorly at which time she was taken into custody.
Jessie Anne Davis 36, of Liberty was cited for Drug Paraphernalia. On a traffic stop, Davis had in her possession a black marijuana grinder, a red grinder, and a pink & blue marijuana pipe.
Robert Alan Norrod, 23, of Dowelltown was arrested on for Driving on Suspended License 2nd, Misuse of Registration, and cited for Financial Responsibility. Police observed a white van driven pull into a residence on Anthony Avenue that the officer didn’t recognize. Due to numerous break-ins in the area he made contact with the driver and asked to see his license, registration, and insurance. Central Dispatch informed the officer that Norrod’s license had been suspended and the license plate was expired in October 2018 even though it had a 2019 decal on it. Upon investigation it was determined that the license plate belonged to someone in Nashville and Norrod could not provide proof of insurance.
Ricardo Loaiza Gonzalez, 28, of North Carolina was arrested for Public Intoxication. Police made contact with Gonzalez at McDonald’s and observed him to be unsteady on his feet and have glossy eyes. The officer smelled an alcoholic beverage about his person and he was unaware of where he was and didn’t have anyone to take him to a safe place at which time he was taken into custody.
Jimmy Layne Estes, 43, was arrested for theft. Estes was visiting someone on Crest Avenue when he reached into the victim’s purse and took money and Identification and ran out of the front door. Upon investigation it was determined that Estes did in fact take the items from the victim’s purse without permission and was taken into custody.
Jaquantez Shermont Pearson, 36, was arrested for Violation of Protection Order. Police responded to an apartment on Bell Street for a possible domestic and upon arrival the female informed the officer that everything was okay. The officer requested permission to look around in which she said yes. The officer then made contact with Pearson in the back bedroom where he did have prior knowledge that the female was the petitioner for an Order of Protection and Pearson was the respondent of the order. Dispatch did confirm that the order is still active and Pearson was then taken into custody as the order states that they are not to be around one another.
Matthew Allen White, 24, was cited for Simple Possession. Police were informed that White was at Mapco and he had active warrants for Failure to Appear. The officer confirmed with the Sheriff’s Department and made contact with White inside by the restrooms. Upon search incident to arrest the officer discovered 3 pills believed to be Xanax to which he didn’t have a prescription for.
Clarence Edward Sexton Jr., 49, was cited for Driver’s License Violation, and Simple Possession. While on a traffic stop, Sexton did have in his possession a Gabapentin capsule and a Hydrocodone pill to which he didn’t have a prescription.
Donna Darlene Hutson, 53, of Sparta was cited for Shoplifting. Hutson was observed by Wal-Mart employees taking items from the store and exiting the building without paying for the merchandise.
Michael Allen Dowell, 30, of Cookeville was arrested for aggravated assault. Police responded to a physical domestic at 627 Armory Street and upon arrival, the victim came outside with a bloody mouth, red marks on throat, bruise on left side of face, and a cut on her arm. It was determined that Dowell had punched her in the face, held a knife to her chest, and strangled her. Witnesses seen Dowell on top of her punching her in the face after hearing he scream for help.
Mark Wayne Hay, 44, of Smyrna was cited for shoplifting when he was caught on camera taking a bottle of Crown Royal from Discount Wine & Spirits and walking out of the store without paying for the bottle of liquor.
Randall Mitchell Tittle, 44, was cited for Simple Possession. Police responded to Wal-Mart in reference to a suspicious person. It was determined that Tittle had taken several items and concealed them in his pants. Upon retrieving the items from Tittle, the officer found 22 yellow tubular capsules believed to be Gabapentin in a clear bag in his left front pocket. Tittle was cited for Simple Possession and Wal-Mart will prosecute for shoplifting.
Johnny Wayne Trapp, 63, was arrested for Public Intoxication. Police responded to McDonald’s for a suspicious person laying in the grass. Upon arrival, the officer found Trapp asleep in the grass with a smell of an alcoholic beverage about his person. Upon waking, Trapp was unsteady on his feet at which time he was taken into custody due to being a danger to himself and an annoyance to the employees at McDonald’s.
