Local rescue personnel worked the scene of a scary accident last week that left one woman with serious injuries.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, on Thursday, April 7, at approximately 7:50 a.m. 32-year-old Kayla P. Kilgore was traveling south on East Main Street in Dowelltown in a 2011 Nissan Altima. At the same time, 43-year-old Esperanza Bernado Flores was traveling west on Highway 70 in a 2011 Honda Civic.
Authorities say that Kilgore’s vehicle pulled out into the path of Flores on Highway 70, causing the Civic to collide with the Altima.
Liberty Engine 65 with the DeKalb County Fire Department, deputies with the DeKalb Sheriff’s Department, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, and a unit with DeKalb EMS responded to the scene. Fire crews had to set up a landing zone where Flores was transported to the hospital by air ambulance.
Kilgore faces charges of driving on a revoked license, due care, failure to yield, CRD, and proof of insurance.
