From a woman who stuffed her stash inside a stuffed animal to a woman who got punched trying to play peacemaker, police saw it all this past week in Smithville.
Included in the city’s crime report:
Regina Carol Valdex, 45, was cited for Drug Paraphernalia. Valdex was a passenger in a vehicle that had been pulled over for a traffic violation. A stuffed animal was laying in plain view on the dash board in front of Valdex. There was a glass pipe wrapped in a blue napkin stuck halfway inside the stuffed animal and upon consent to search from the owner of the vehicle, the officer recovered the pipe and a torch lighter commonly used to smoke methamphetamine was found in Valdez pocket.
Joshua Lee Franklin, 27, was arrested for two counts of domestic assault. Police responded to Hayes Street for a physical domestic in progress. Upon arrival the officer made contact with the victims and the suspect, found to be Franklin. Upon investigation it was found that one of the victims stepped in between the other two arguing and Franklin hit her in the arm and threw her to the ground. He then tried to provoke the other victim to fight him and tried to hit him with a closed fist. It was found that Franklin was the primary aggressor and was taken into custody.
Danny Ray Prater, 33, of McMinnville was arrested for Public Intoxication. Police responded to an unwanted person at a residence on Jackson Street. Upon arrival, police made contact with Prater outside of the residence and observed him to be extremely agitated, sweaty, and unable to stand still. Prater was found to be under the influence of an intoxicant and for his and the public’s safety was taken into custody.
Cassandra Renee Reed, 30, was cited for Improper Passing (school bus), Driver’s License Violation, Registration Violation, and Financial Responsibility. Police observed Reed pass a stopped school bus with the stop sign displayed and discharging children on West Broad Street. A computer check with Central Dispatch revealed Reed’s license to be revoked for failure to satisfy fines and cost in Warren County. Registration for tags was not on her person or in the vehicle, and she couldn’t provide proof of valid insurance.
Enrique Adelaido Lomas, 25, was arrested for Manufacture, Deliver, Sell, or Possession of Methamphetamine and David D Anderson, 49, of Liberty was cited for Drug Paraphernalia. While on routine patrol, police observed a white truck parked in the parking lot of City Walk Apartments when a male subject exited the vehicle and opened the hood. Due to suspicious activity and multiple burglaries in the area the officer approached the vehicle and noticed three male subjects in the truck. The officer spoke with the subjects and found their story was not consistent so the owner of the vehicle, Lomas was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle in which he replied, “no”. Lomas was asked and consented to a search of the truck and the officer found a clear baggie with a clear crystal substance in a small cubby underneath the hood laying on a rag which weighed .5 grams and did test positive for Methamphetamine. A clear glass pipe wrapped in a white cloth was found inside the right-side pocket of a jacket that was lying in the front passenger seat. The jacket was found to belong to Anderson at which time he was cited for Drug Paraphernalia.
Jose Salvador Rayas, 44, of West Broad Street was arrested for DUI 1st and cited for Driver License Violation, Open Container, and Financial Responsibility. Police responded to Braswell Lane for an accident that had occurred and made contact with the driver who had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage about his person, glossy eyes, and unsteady on his feet. A computer check revealed that his license was expired in 2006, he couldn’t provide proof of insurance, and two 24oz cans of beer were found open inside the vehicle.
Johnny Wayne Trapp, 62, was arrested for Public Intoxication. Police received a welfare check on an elderly man walking down the road who almost got hit by a vehicle. The officer made contact with Trapp who had slurred speech, unsteady on his feet, and stumbling all over the roadway. When asked how much he had had to drink the officer was informed “to much”. Trapp had nowhere to go for the night so his and the public’s safety he was taken into custody.
Joshua Peter Knockaert, 32, of Bells was arrested for Violation of Order of Protection. Police responded to Wal-Mart for a suspicious vehicle in the area. The officer made contact with Knockaert in Wal-Mart parking lot and a computer check revealed that he does have active bond conditions out of Murfreesboro in effect that restrains him from being around or in contact with the victim who was also present in the vehicle.
Jimmy Layne Estes, 42, was arrested for Violation of Order of Protection. While on routine patrol in the early morning hours the officer made contact with Estes in a vehicle in front of 630 Highland Street. A computer check showed there is a valid Order of Protection and the petitioner lives at this address. Estes was in violation of the order and taken into custody.
